CRITICAL THEMES IN MEDIA STUDIES: CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Sponsored and hosted by The New School University, The Critical Themes in Media Studies Conference provides a distinguished forum for graduate students from around the world to present original scholarship pertaining to media studies and society.

Previous papers have engaged the following topics: Globalization, Televisuality, Mediated Environments, Virtuality, Identity & Representation, Media and Social Change, Popular Culture, Political Economy, Media and Social Theory, Philosophy and Film, Visual Culture, Technoculture, and more. All themes, and others not listed above, are open for consideration.

Past Keynote speakers have included Lev Manovich, James Carey, Pierre Levy, and Giuliana Bruno, among others. The 2009 keynote will be announced in the coming weeks.

Those submitted after February 1, 2009 will not be considered.
