Opportunity to Volunteer at the Asian Pacific Development Center

Asian Pacific Development Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving diverse Asian communities in providing array of services in Behavioral Health, Program & HEalth Services, and Professional Training. (www.apdc.org)

As part of the Youth Mentorship Programs Services, APDC runs an afterschool program called Re-LAY(Responsible Leadership and Action for Youth) and currently is serving at Merrill Middle School (Denver Public Schools). The program is targeted for 6-8th grade students considered to be "at risk" through teachers' referrals. Most of the kids referred have difficulties academically and due to the fact that Merrill Middle School accepts numerous refugee kids who are new to the U.S. and have yet to learn English, the program's focus is mainly on academic tutoring.

The program runs Tues-Thursday from 2.30pm-4pm, of which Tuesdays and Wednesdays are for tutoring and Thursdays reserved for Tobacco Prevention program for the youth. There are 15 kids in the program and we are in need of volunteers, especially on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is a culturally diverse group of kids and it will be a great experience!

Thanks!!
